The Louisiana Department of Education named its 24 finalists for the 2024 Louisiana Students of the Year competition today. The honorees include one 5th, 8th, and 12th grader from each of the state’s eight BESE regions.

èapp Teacher Named Top 50 Finalist for Global Teacher Prize
ALEXANDRIA, La. — 7,000 worldwide nominations. 50 finalists from several countries. Only four finalists from the United States.

One of those four finalists from the Varkey Foundation’s Global Teacher Prize was Lacey Hoosier, a science teacher at Buckeye High School.

èapp Parish Public Schools Show Continued Growth in District Peformance
ALEXANDRIA, La.-- The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) has released the 2023 performance scores. The results show another increase for èapp Parish Public Schools. The performance score for the district increased from an 80.4 to an 80.7. èapp remains a B-rated èapp district, and this score marks the highest performance rating under the current accountability system.

Alexandria, LA - èapp Parish School Food & Nutrition Services, today announced an amendment to its policy for serving meals to èapp under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the 2023-2024 èapp year. All èapps in the District will be CEP, which means all èapp will be served lunch and breakfast at no charge.
